From South East to North West: Romanian-Dutch cooperation knows no borders

Parteneriatele romano-olandeze prezentate in cadrul intalnirii de vineri au acoperit 3 domenii importante: inginerie aerospatiala, IT si inginerie medicala. Aceste parteneriate au fost ilustrate prin exemple: 1) Facultatea de Inginerie Aerospatiala si compania Fokker -  companie care produce sisteme si componente avansate pentru avioane, 2) Facultatea de Calculatoare si ORTEC - companie specializata in solutii IT de optimizare si analiza si 3) SSIMA - International Summer School on Imaging for Medical Applications si Philips, lider global in solutii de sanatate.

SSIMA reuneste, in fiecare an, in cadrul unei scoli de vara dedicata ultimelor noutati in domeniu, liderii mondiali in inginerie medicala.

Philips a devenit partener SSIMA in 2016.

EN:

Last Friday, 3rd of March, University Politehnica of Bucharest was the host of an event dedicated to mark the beginning of a public-private partnership between the biggest technical university in Romania and major Dutch aerospace company Fokker. This was not the only partnership presented during the event, however. Several successful Romanian-Dutch partnerships were presented during the meeting. They cover different areas of expertise, including medical technology.

The showcased Romanian-Dutch partnerships covered 3 main domains: aerospace engineering, IT, and medical engineering. These were illustrated by the following examples: 1) the Aerospace Engineering Faculty and Fokker - a company which develops and manufactures highly engineered advanced aircraft systems and components for aircraft manufacturers, 2) the Computer Science Faculty and ORTEC, a company which “builds and implements advanced IT solutions that help our customers save money and optimize the world”, and 3) the International Summer School on Imaging for Medical Applications (SSIMA) and Philips, a global leader in healthcare solutions.

SSIMA annually unites global leaders in the medical engineering field during one week in Romania, for an intensive summer school on the latest topics in medical technology. In attendance have been professors from world-renowend universities such as MIT, Johns Hopkins, the French Academy of Sciencies, École Centrale de Paris, Technion Israel Institute of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology. At SSIMA, these top academics meet up with researchers from the private sector, physicians and entrepreneurs to discuss their latest research results and the latest trends in the field. The school also provides a unique opportunity for students with high potential to mingle with the leaders in their field.

Philips became partner of SSIMA in 2016. The partnership with Philips is helping SSIMA maintaining and expanding the focus on cooperation between academia and the private sector, by enlarging the voice of the corporate community in the structure of the school. The goal is for SSIMA to balance the expertise and perspective from the private sector with the expertise and perspective from the academic community. This, in combination with providing the opportunity for high potential students across Europe to participate at the highest level, has been the guiding mission for SSIMA since its inception.
