Azurion - one-stop-shop for minimally-invasive procedures

Dupa lansarea recenta a sistemului de navigatie bazat pe Realitatea Augmentata de catre Philips, aceeasi companie face un pas semnificativ in domeniul interventiilor ghidate imagistic prin lansarea platformei Azurion. 
 

Azurion este o platforma integrata, dedicata centrelor medicale moderne, care include sisteme software avansate, sisteme de masura si diagnostic precum si instrumente de interventie pentru terapiile minim-inavzive.

 

Asa cum am explicat intr-un articol anterior, tehnicile avansate de imagistica sunt esentiale pentru realizarea cu precizie si in siguranta a procedurilor minim-invazive. 

 

Procedurile minim-invazive reduc inciziile de dimensiuni mari, specifice chirurgiei traditionala, la incizii de dimensiuni extrem de mici. Printre interventiile chirurgicale care sunt realizate cu succes minim-invaziv se numara: corectia aritmiilor cardiace, a anevrismelor, extirparea unor anumite tipuri de tumori, inlocuirea valvelor inimii si multe altele. 

 

Prin introducerea acestui nou tip de procedura, aceste interventii au devenit mult mai putin traumatizante pentru pacient, cu o perioada de spitalizare semnificativ redusa, si un risc scazut de preluare a bacteriilor nosocomiale. 

 

Azurion este noua platforma de terapii ghidate imagistic care integreaza diferite tehnici de imagistica medicala, permitand procedurilor minim-invazive sa fie realizate mai rapid si mai eficient. 

 

Azurion integreaza: 1) sisteme software de navigatie si planificare folosite in chirurgia vasculara, cardiaca,  neuroradiologica si oncologica prin tehnici minim-invazive, 2) instrumente de interventie pentru diagnostic si terapie, precum cateterele si 3) alte facilitati precum o noua versiune a sistemului de operare dezvoltat de companie, ConnectOS, sau o interfata usor de folosit, care va ajuta medicii sa realizeze interventii de calitate intr-un timp mai scurt.  

 

Spre deosebire de sistemele anterioare, platforma aduce peste 1000 de componente noi, incluzand sistemul de operare ConnectOS . Integrand aceste componente, noua platforma permite producerea de imagini la rezolutie inalta folosind doze ultra scazute de radiatii X, precum si procesarea in timp real a acetsora pe mai multe statii de lucru. Ca urmare, medicii pot realiza diferite sarcini in paralel, reducand astfel timpul necesar unei interventii. 

 

Sarcinile de rutina din timpul pregatirii unei interventii sunt pre-programate in sistem, in functie de preferintele utilizatorului, reducand astfel timpul de pregatire al unei interventii cu Azurion. 

 

Datele de la sistemele de imagistica, de la instrumentele de navigatie si interventie precum si dosarul medical al pacientului pot fi accesate cu ajutorul platformei.

Following the recent launch of a surgery navigation system based on Augmented Reality by Philips, that same company is now making another big leap in the field of image-guided therapy by launching the Azurion platform. 

Azurion is an integrated medical facility for modern healthcare institutions, including advanced computer software, measurement and diagnosis systems and medical intervention tools for minimally-invasive procedures.

 

As explained in my previous article on a new Augmented Reality navigation system, advanced imaging techniques are essential for the safe and accurate handling of such small-incision procedures.

 

Minimally-invasive procedures are replacing the traditional, open surgeries with small incisions. Among the interventions/procedures for which a minimally-invasive type has successfully been introduced: the correction of cardiac arrythmias or aneurysms, the removal of certain tumors, cardiac valve replacement and many others.

  

By the introduction of this new type of procedure, these interventions have become less traumatic for the patient, significantly reduced the period of hospitalization, and lowered the risk of infection by nosocomial bacteria.  

 

Azurion is the new image-guided therapy platform that would integrate the many different imaging techniques that are available for these purposes and allow them to be conducted faster and more efficiently.

 

Azurion integrates: 1) navigation and planning systems for minimally-invasive surgeries - used in minimally-invasive vascular, cardiology, neuroradioloy and oncology therapies, 2) interventional tools such as catheters for diagnosis and therapy and 3) other features - such as an user-friendly interface and an operating system developed by the company, ConnectOS, which will help clinicians to perform quality interventions.

 

The platform features more than 1000 new components, including the operating system, ConnectOS. Because of the integration of such a large number of imaging components, Azurion is able to produce high quality images obtained with an ultra-low X-ray dose, which are processed in real-time on multiple workstations. Therefore, a team of clinicians can work in parallel while performing different tasks, thus reducing the time necessary for an intervention.
